F. Scott Fitzgerald: The Great Gatsby and His Legacy

The author of The Great Gatsby is F. Scott Fitzgerald. Born Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald on September 24, 1896, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was an American novelist and short story writer, widely regarded as one of the greatest authors of the 20th century, particularly known for his vivid portrayals of the Jazz Age, a term he coined. Fitzgerald’s writing captured the extravagance, ambition, and disillusionment of the Roaring Twenties in America. The Great Gatsby, his most famous novel, explores themes of wealth, love, the American Dream, and social change during that era. Although the novel wasn’t a huge success before his death, December 21, 1940, it’s now considered a classic of American literature.

Fitzgerald’s Famous Works include:

The Great Gatsby (1925)

This Side of Paradise (1920)

-The Beautiful and Damned (1922)

Tender Is the Night (1934)

The Last Tycoon (unfinished, published posthumously in 1941)
